EMERITUS LIFE ASSOCIATE AND STUART CAMERON PAGE 24
MCLEOD SOCIETY
Emeritus Life Associate
The designation of Emeritus Life Associate (ELA) is made available to retired members who have had twenty years of active service or ten years of active service including five years as an elected national or chapter officer/director. Those designated are relieved from payment of annual dues. The intent of this provision is to recognize the debt which the IMA owes to the members of long standing.
Ohio Mid-Eastern ELA: Kenneth E. Grewe
Stuart Cameron McLeod Society
Membership in the Stuart Cameron McLeod Society (SCMS) consists of current and past national officers and directors. It promotes and perpetuates friendships developed through service in the IMA. It provides an opportunity to offer leadership and guidance in the development, growth and expansion of the IMA.
The SCMS was formed in 1934 as the Spot Club. In 1957 the name was changed in recognition of Stuart Cameron McLeod, on of the founders of the Spot Club and executive secretary of IMA from 1919 until his death in 1944.
The trophy awarded to the third place chapter in the Stevenson competition is sponsored by the SCMS. The SCMS also sponsors the S. Alden Pendleton Award for excellence in the Community Service Program of the IMA. In addition, the SCMS provides judges for the selection of recipients of the Stuart Cameron and Margaret McLeod Scholarships.
SCMS is also known as the “Society for Continuing Membership Service.” This described the fellow chapter members who are active members of the SCMS.
