As Executive Director of the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce, I wish to welcome everyone to Harrison County, the land of opportunity. In Harrison County we have most things a larger county has, only on a smaller scale. In addition, we have the rural way of life, slower pace of living, scenic beauty, and a healthy life style.

We have small manufacturing firms in our Industrial Park that provide jobs for our people. The Intersection of Route 9, Route 250 and Route 22 has brought retail business to Cadiz, the County Seat, resulting in more jobs. The town of Hopedale is growing because of its closeness to Pittsburgh and the completeion of the Route 22 bypass.

The Harrison County Airport is three miles south of Cadiz and serves executive aircraft. Harrison County is close to three major airports: Pittsburgh International, Akron-Canton Airport, and Cleveland Hopkins.

Harrison County has tourist attractions that make tourism a natural business. One of the most famous attractions is the Clark Gable Museum. Gift Shop and Bed and Breakfast. Others include: The Harrison County History of Coal Museum, The Franklin Museum, the Custer Monument, the Scio Museum, etc. Its many Hike and Bike Trails have become very popular. Its many lakes provide added recreational opportunities. Hunting is another popular recreational sport.

We are proud of our good schools, good libraries, active religious groups, and many nice residential areas. Our police departments in each town provide good security for our homes, schools, and businesses.

Harrison Community Hospital is a fully accredited hospital that provides quality health care for everyone in the county. It has recently had a new face lift with a new state-of-the-art entrance. It has a new Physical Therapy section donated by Wilbur and Maxine Snode, and other changes to the hospital have been made. Harrison Community Hospital has a cafeteria that serves good meals at reasonable prices. Harrison Community Hospital now has its own ambulance service for emergencies. For EMS, call 942-6333.

Harrison County has its' own Rural Transit System funded by the government. The Rural Transit System has several programs to hep the people of the communities and are continually looking for additional ways to expand.

The Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Council are looking forward to working with all to bring new business to the county, more tourism opportunities, and to continue providing quality services for its residents.
